Why We Rescue Child Victims of Human-Trafficking.
Although human trafficking is a commonly discussed subject, individuals often do not know the magnitude of the growing number of children sold into this form modern-day slavery. Global Renewal is a nonprofit organization that works to bring awareness to the worldwide issue of human trafficking by rescuing child victims of human slavery and giving them a safe house (our Selah Safe Houses) as a place to rehabilitate rescued children through medical care, emotional assistance, and the power and healing of God’s love.
The Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative (CTDC) reported 108,613 individual cases of human trafficking in 2020. The CTDC also showed that children are being exploited in 164 different countries as of 2020. More than half of the victims identified by CTDC partners are under age 26, and nearly a quarter of them are children – so, the largest age group trafficked is between 15-17 years of age.
According to the International Monetary FundHuman report, human trafficking generates more than $150 billion per year. Two-thirds of its victims, or 25 million people, are in East Asia and the Pacific where Global Renewal has planted its roots and our Community Leadership Training Institutes. More than 85% of victims were trafficked from within East Asia and the Pacific. This is why Global Renewal rescues and rehabilitates children in this area, with a focus on training community leaders to spot and eradicate human trafficking at its roots.
Global Renewal is one of many organizations that works to eradicate human trafficking worldwide through three main goals:
To educate children and community leaders.
To elevate the standard of living in impoverished areas.
To eradicate human trafficking for good.
Global Renewal seeks to educate and transform individuals, families, and communities through leadership training, online english classes, educational sponsorships to send children to school, counseling and rehabilitation efforts, and mentoring programs.
Global Renewal's mission to elevate the standard of individual living is composed of building up local communities through feeding programs, micro-enterprise business opportunities, medical outreach programs, and responding to basic human needs including the current Covid-19 crisis.
Finally, Global Renewal actively works to eradicate modern-day slavery around the world. This component of the organization's mission includes searching for and rescuing child victims of human trafficking and bringing them safely into rehabilitation through our Selah Safe Houses.
