Meet David & Liney Chacko
Founders of Global Renewal
The founders of Global Renewal are two ordinary people who left their “normal” lives decades ago in pursuit of something better and far more interesting: OTHERS. While working to educate and train community leaders across Southeast Asia, they found themselves face-to-face with the epidemic of modern-day slavery and human trafficking affecting the lives of those they worked so closely with. They determined that human trafficking was an epidemic caused by extreme poverty that could be conquered.
David was born and raised in beautiful Singapore where he served in the National Service program and completed his Bachelor’s degree. He had also worked in banking for three years before embarking on a compelling mission to serve the less privileged people of Southeast Asia in 1983. Since then, his travels have taken him to areas of great need that were affected by tragedies such as the Aceh tsunami, Padang earthquake, and genocide-devastated Cambodia where the exploitation and trafficking of children is rampant.
Liney was born in India and arrived in the U.S. at age three. She was involved in a number of youth related activities, educational and social works in the U.S., Central America, and Papua New Guinea before she and David joined forces to implement the vision of Global Renewal in 1999. Liney initiated the start of the anti-trafficking initiative by establishing their first safe house in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2013, and has since worked tirelessly to mentor Global Renewal teams, teach leaders to identify potential trafficking victims, and developing women in lower socio-economic communities. Her greatest joy is watching beauty emerge from the darkest places and drawing the gold out of everyone she meets.
David and Liney met in 1997 and were married the following year. Together, they established the vision and mission of Global Renewal with educational and social outreaches, educational training programs, and the establishment of safe houses for rescued girls and boys in Southeast Asia.
Together, they speak a total of six languages and reside in Frisco, Texas with their three amazing children. They take turns to travel bi-monthly to Asia to continue their efforts with Global Renewal to create positive life change and transformation for every human.
